Surprises can be good: puppies, birthday parties, or when the person ahead of you pays for your coffee. Conversely, unexpected medical bills are rarely good surprises. A new federal law, the No Surprises Act (NSA), aims to reduce surprise billing in health care and protect consumers through regulation of health care providers (and insurers) regarding billing practice transparency.
